I’m curious what oppo’s opinion is. Do you prefer open hoods or closed hoods at car shows?

I lean towards closed, but it depends. For exotic cars I want to see the form, not the function. If I really want to see the engine I’ll ask the owner. But if it’s heavily modified I’m curious to see the engine. If it’s stock I honestly don’t care. I’ve seen an LS3, I don’t need to see your Corvette’s engine

For my own car personally I prefer to keep it closed as I’m paranoid someone will mess around in the engine bay when I’m not looking

I usually photograph at car shows, so I prefer closed. Honestly if it’s a stock car and they’re somewhat common it’s pointless to leave them open like you said. Now if there’s something special under the hood like a supercharger or turbocharger that usually isn’t in there, then I’m ok with that. That's just cool.

Closed. I have no idea what im looking for under the hood anyway. So I usually stand there looking very interested, staring at the engine while thinking:

‘Hmm... yup, thats the engine alright’

My opinion is essentially the same. If there’s something unusual going on underneath, I wouldn’t mind seeing it.

I'm sorta indifferent on the matter. Today's the first time at Cars and Coffee I opened mine. I might open it next time, I might not.

I leave the SL open. It’s a great conversation piece, that V12. Many laughs have been had when people see the V12 badge and double take. You really don’t see too many around. Also, if there’s not much wind and it’s a good day, I’ll stick the hood all the way up in service position. That’s a fantastic attention grabber.

The Magnum, right now, I sometimes open, sometimes don’t. It just depends on which way the wind blows.

Closed, unless there’s something really unusual or unique under there. If it’s the stock engine, and there was nothing particularly remarkable or noteworthy about it when new, than no point in really showing it.

Like Brian says to Hector in The Fast and the Furious - you wanna know what’s under the hood, it’s gonna cost you.

Open, I want to know what moves it. I care more about that than how it looks.

Either. If you want a picture of something really clean the hood being up ruins it a bit.

And, really, How many times can you see a Big Block/LSX/Smallblock and go Ooh!?

It’s different if you have something really rare. Like an all original 6 cylinder 70 Camaro or a 4 banger Nova. The rest is old hat.

Hood open I as long as you put a toy model of your car on the engine. Here is my toy car! And my real car! And my toy car!

Depends on what you’ve got. If you’ve got something interesting or unusual under the hood, open it up! In my case, my Mustang looks like every Fox-body ever built under hood, so why bother?

Unless its a stripped clean bay, and/or some wild engine, close the fucker. I like cars. You have a Hemi in you charger? Who cares? Don’t fuck up the lines man.
